Drone (RPAS) Survey

Drone survey is one of the fastest ways to capture accurate, high-resolution spatial data over a site — from a few hectares of farmland to a large mine footprint. All flights are planned and flown in line with South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) RPAS regulations.

Depending on the brief, we produce georeferenced orthomosaics, digital elevation and surface models, contour data, and volumetric calculations (for stockpiles, excavations or rehabilitation monitoring). Imagery can also feed directly into the remote sensing and environmental monitoring work we do for conservation and agricultural clients.

Typical deliverables

  • Georeferenced orthomosaic imagery
  • Digital elevation/surface models (DEM/DSM)
  • Contour lines and terrain data
  • Stockpile and excavation volumetric reports
  • Repeat-flight monitoring for change detection over time

FAQs

Are your drone surveys legally compliant in South Africa?

Yes. Drone (RPAS) operations in South Africa are regulated by the SACAA. Inventree holds the relevant RPAS licensing and flies all survey missions in accordance with these regulations.

What can a drone survey be used for?

Common uses include topographic and volumetric survey, stockpile measurement, crop and vegetation monitoring, construction progress tracking, and environmental or rehabilitation monitoring over time.
